Year I

For who you have been, I am so thankful. In the choices you have made, I am inspirited.
You came out of nowhere and you loved me so deeply and with no reservations.
When I have felt so full and when I have been so empty, your presence has never been questioned.
And as circumstances have shown us the character of some whom we trusted, they have also shown me your insuppressible love.

The grace you show me I hope I can always return to you. And your passion for justice is one I have never seen, but one I want to match. My desire is to be for you something that is good, and a person that will always face with you inequities and misfortunes.
When you doubt yourself, I will be there to remind you that you are good. I will remind you of the need we have for you to speak, to act, and to care for those who have been pushed aside.

Through you I see more of the mercy I have been given, and I live more of the gifts God has granted me. There is no doubt that God is with you, and that she gives you the desire to be an instrument of redemption. This year marks a time in which we have lived through tests, some of which we have prevailed over, and others which we still must withstand. But this year also gives evidence of what you and I have promised to each other, to fully give our love to one another.

I pray that my love will always be for you what we promised a year ago. My love will never betray you, dismay, or enslave you, but it will set you free. May my love help you be more like the one you were made to be. When the storm comes, may we both remember that we have each other, that this soon will pass, and that God will always be for us. In her love, our fears are driven away, and we can love as she has loved us.

Meagan, today and forever, my love is for you.
